Useful tip:
Adding a program to auto start

Adding a program to automatically run
every time the computer started

Instructions on how to add a new application
to the auto-start list

1. As an example, we will take the very handy Screen Capture utility, and add it to the autostarts part of the system. Normally, it has to be started from the L > Utilities > Screen Capture menu.

First click the L > Programs > Utilities menu

This will open a window showing what is already set up to automatically start when X does.

2. Click on L > Programs > Utilities > Screen Capture and before releasing the mouse button, drag the cursor over the blank bit of the autostart window

Release the button and click on Copy

3. The menu disappears and the icon is added to the open window... presto!

4. At the next reboot, we see the Screen Capture utility launched centre screen, with a snapshot of the desktop as we can see here...

Thank-you to Kendall Dawson of Linspire.com for his permission to take a page he coded and allowed us use of it on this site.
We wanted to create a site with useful links on every page, and ideas we got from his page made it possible. This is open-source in operation!
